Accused pub stabber's case fast-tracked for trial

A Victorian man charged with murder after an incident outside a country pub has had his case fast-tracked for trial in the Victorian Supreme Court.

Spencer Shumski, 20, is charged with the murder of 38-year-old Clint Allen, who died from a stab wound outside Sale's Criterion Hotel in the early hours of May 7 this year.

Shumski is also charged with intentionally causing injury to another man.

He faced court by video link from prison, where he pleaded not guilty to both charges.

His case will now move to the Supreme Court for a directions hearing on October 5.

The court heard Shumski also intends to plead guilty to two separate charges of possessing a controlled weapon, while other firearms and ammunition charges will continue to be dealt with in Sale Magistrates Court next month.
