Brisbane have faith they can beat Penrith in their NRL grand final rematch even if representative prop Payne Haas is ruled out.
Young gun front-rower Xavier Willison will come in to the side to take on the Panthers away on Thursday night if Haas does not recover from a knee injury.
Captain Adam Reynolds has already been scratched with an MCL strain and his place at halfback will be taken by Jock Madden.
Haas was in the gym on Sunday and at Monday's session was with the rehab group.
He did not train with the main squad on either day. Willison trained at prop on Monday and was wearing the number 17 jersey.
Coach Kevin Walters said on Sunday that Haas had been named to play but added "we are not 100 per cent sure he will be playing".
Starting prop Corey Jensen, who will play his 100th NRL game against the Panthers, said 21-year-old Willison proved last year in his seven NRL matches that he could rise to the occasion against the defending premiers.
"He has been great every time he's had to step up," Jensen said.
"He is a big body and has a good motor. He is a young kid but he is really talented. I have no doubt that if he is called upon, if Payne is no good, that he will step up and do a job for the team."
Jensen said the Broncos could win without their five-time player of the year Haas.
"Definitely. We believe in everyone's ability to step up here. Payne is a huge part for the team but if everyone is doing their role we believe we can beat anyone."
If he plays, Willison will join a middle forward rotation that includes Martin Taupau, Kobe Hetherington and Fletcher Baker.
"We have got quality middles whether they are starting or coming off the bench," Jensen said.
"I had a good stint (in round one) against the Roosters and can play big minutes if need be. If Payne doesn't play we are all going to have to step up."
Jensen, 30, has got a career second wind at the Broncos after leaving North Queensland at the end of 2021.
"This is my eighth season in the NRL and I have been toiling away for a fair while now but it is a big milestone for me," he said.
"I am a late bloomer so to make 100 games, I am very proud."
