Doubt still remains over Port captain Rozee: coach

Port Adelaide captain Connor Rozee is no certainty to return from injury despite being included in the Power's side to play Hawthorn.

Rozee missed Port's win in Geelong last Friday night because of a hamstring strain after failing to finish the two prior games due to his injury.

Port coach Ken Hinkley says Rozee's status for Sunday's Adelaide Oval clash against the Hawks remains uncertain.

Connor Rozee is no certainty to return from a hamstring strain against the Hawks.

The dynamic midfielder will train fully on Friday but a decision on whether he plays may be left until match day.

"We will get through training and we'll see how everything goes and we'll make decisions after that," Hinkley told reporters prior to training.

"We have got a really good strong history of being able to manage these people really well.

"Yes, the last one, we made a mistake but that's not going to scare us away from what we should be doing.

"If there is any doubt at all, he won't play. If there is no doubt, he will play."

Hinkley said it was now 18 days since Rozee's "last episode" with his injured hamstring.

"We have been as thorough and as detailed as we could possibly be in making sure that we don't run the risk of Connor re-hurting himself," he said.

"The reality of that, whenever you bring someone back from a soft tissue tissue injury, there's always a risk.

"We have to minimise that amount of risk and we've tried to do that."

Rozee has completed two full training sessions this week.

"That is different than what he had done last time - he had done a lot of training last time, a lot of running last time, a lot of kicking last time," Hinkley said.

"But he's actually going to go through uncontrolled drills ... if he gets through those things OK, and if we are happy enough with that, we will then allow him to play.

"If not, we'll make a decision right up until the (match) day."
