'My darling boy': tears and tributes for TV presenter

Hundreds of heartbroken family and friends have farewelled television presenter Jesse Baird, who was was allegedly murdered alongside his partner Luke Davies in Sydney.

The 26-year-old's funeral was held at Plenty Ranges Arts and Convention Centre in South Morang, in Melbourne's north, on Tuesday morning.

Mourners were asked to wear bright colours to the service in honour of Mr Baird.

Family members including Mr Baird's parents and sister Kourtnee were joined by mourners and former colleagues from Network 10, where he worked on the morning show Studio 10.

"My heart is broken my darling boy and I love you more than this world," Helen Baird said in a tearful tribute to her son.

"There will never be another you."

Gary Baird said his son's empathy for others was unrivalled.

"You squeezed 100 years of life into 26. Our hearts are broken. You will be missed but never forgotten."

Balloons spelling out Mr Baird's name adorned the convention centre's stage alongside photos of him smiling at various ages.

Network 10 reporter Daniel Doody delivered a eulogy before bubbles were blown and released at the end of the service.

Mr Baird grew up in nearby Diamond Creek where he played AFL to the senior level before umpiring the sport in the professional league for more than 60 matches.

A service for Mr Davies, who worked as a Qantas flight attendant, will be held in Queensland in April.

Police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon remains in custody after being charged with murdering the pair at Mr Baird's home at Paddington in inner-city Sydney on February 19.

Investigators allege the 28-year-old used a police-issued firearm to kill the couple.

Detectives allege Lamarre-Condon killed Mr Baird in a premeditated attack after a months-long campaign of predatory behaviour.

Mr Davies was allegedly murdered because he happened to be in the Paddington property at the time of his partner's killing.

The pair's bodies were found inside surfboard bags at a rural property in Bungonia, near Goulburn, about 200km southwest of the city, days later.

NSW Police confirmed Lamarre-Condon was removed from the force last week.
