Green's Hornets best not enough for NBA win at Hawks

Australia's Josh Green has enjoyed his best scoring night in the NBA for Charlotte, but it proved not enough at home to Atlanta.

Green, who joined the Hornets in the off-season, had 17 points and three rebounds in a 107-104 loss to fellow Boomers star Dyson Daniels' Hawks.

In his 36 minutes of court time, Green drained six of 12 shots - including four of his seven three-point attempts.

His highest NBA score of 29 was recorded on February 6, 2023 against the Utah Jazz.

Daniels meantime finished with eight points, five boards and three assists, with five of his teammates reaching double figures. Jalen Johnson top-scored with 20 for Atlanta (10-11), who have won three straight.

Brandon Miller led all scorers with 32 points for Charlotte (6-14), who have now lost five in a row.

In Detroit, Philadelphia won just their fourth game of the season and for third time in 15 outings.

Tyrese Maxey scored 28 points, Jared McCain 19 and Ricky Council IV 17 as the 76ers beat the Pistons 111-96.

Malik Beasley had 19 points for the hosts, while Jaden Ivey had 15 and Marcus Sasser scored 12. Simone Fontecchio had 11 rebounds for Detroit — the only player on either team to reach double figures in assists or rebounds.

The Sixers scored 11 points in 101 seconds to take an early 22-7 lead. Maxey, Paul George and Kelly Oubre Jr. hit three straight three-pointers before Oubre finished the run with a mid-range jumper. Philadelphia led by as many as 18 points in the first quarter and 57-52 at halftime.
