A man has suffered serious injuries after he became trapped under tonnes of grain when a silo collapsed.
Emergency services rushed to the remote property at Arcturus, about 230km southwest of Rockhampton, after the 34-year-old man was pinned under the grain silo on Wednesday morning.
Police said the man was found under the metal structure at the bottom of the silo with several tonnes of grain falling on top of him.
Bystanders had been working frantically with shovels and a front-end loader to dig the man out and keep the grain away from his face.
Three Queensland Fire and Emergency Service crews used cutting gear to free the man from under the silo's sheet metal.
He suffered significant leg and foot injuries.
The RACQ CapRescue helicopter transported the man to Rockhampton Hospital.
Flight Critical Care Paramedic Kirsty Berger said the man was thankful for the emergency response.
"He seemed in really good spirits throughout our transfer," she said.
