It's a milestone that appears insignificant in the AFL's grand scheme, especially when it plays out alongside celebrated superstar Dustin Martin's 300th game.
But there's more to Changkuoth Jiath's 50th appearance for Hawthorn than meets than eye.
Beset by injuries throughout his career, the 25-year-old playmaker will reach the mark in the Hawks' clash with Richmond at the MCG on Saturday night.
"There's something special about it because of what he's had to go through," Hawthorn coach Sam Mitchell said.
"He's never quite had it easy; he's always had something difficult to work through and some great challenges.
"I'm really proud of what he's been able to do this season to get back from the setbacks that he had."
Jiath has faced numerous injuries during his six seasons with Hawthorn and was limited to just eight games last year because of calf and achilles problems.
He spent time at a sports medicine facility in Qatar in the off-season as the Hawks tried to rid him of persistent soft-tissue concerns.
But a pre-season hamstring injury ensured Jiath missed the start of the 2024 campaign, before a quadriceps strain further delayed his comeback.
He returned against Port Adelaide in round 10 and will play his fifth consecutive game when the in-form Hawks look to extend their winning streak against Richmond.
Mitchell said the quad injury could have been demoralising for Jiath, but the much-loved teammate has responded by bringing enthusiasm and positivity to the playing group.
"Everyone that drives home, if they think about what CJ did for them that day, they drive home with a more positive feeling and mindset," Mitchell said.
"The fact that he's been able to create that within our group is really important for us.
"The players will be really excited to run out with him for his 50th and know that his next 50 are going to be some pretty special moments."
Hawthorn have further reason to celebrate after Blake Hardwick signed a five-year contract extension with the club.
The versatile 27-year-old had been targeted by rival clubs but turned down free agency to commit his long-term future to the Hawks.
Now in his ninth season with Hawthorn, Hardwick will line up for his 161st game against Richmond.
Lloyd Meek returns from a syndesmosis injury, replacing Ned Reeves (back spasms) in the ruck for a battle against Tigers warrior Toby Nankervis.
Nick Watson is also back, with Seamus Mitchell dropped.
Key forward Mitch Lewis (knee) is nearing a return through the VFL, while Chad Wingard (calf soreness) has had a "minor" setback that will keep him out of action until after next week's bye.
