Police are investigating two potentially linked and targeted attacks after a man was rushed to hospital with gunshot wounds to his head and shoulder.
Police were called to a shop at Claymore in Sydney’s southwest over reports a man had been shot in the shoulder about 9.30am.
Shortly after, officers were called to Highfield Park in Cranebrook to where a man had been shot in the head and shoulder.
Superintendent Grant Healey said both men were taken to hospital where one remains in a serious condition undergoing surgery and the other in a stable condition awaiting surgery.
Police are looking for two men of Pacific Islander or Maori appearance last seen in the vicinity of Proctor Way.
"This was a targeted attack," Supt Healey told reporters on Saturday.
"These are people that deliberately went out looking for some other people."
"It was 9.30 in the morning in a park in a residential suburb and this (shows) reckless disregard for everybody's safety.
Police are also investigating a house fire in Minto about 11pm on Friday night.
"A man in his late 50s exited the house and was hit by an object by an unknown person and then the house was deliberately lit shortly after," Supt Healey said.
A 61-year-old women and a woman in her 20s were inside the home at the time but both were unharmed.
Supt Healey said police are investigating possible links between the incidents.
"We've got information that makes us think that they may be linked but I can't go into that information at this time," he said.
