A Victorian sergeant accused of rape and producing child abuse material will likely be extradited from Queensland to face more than 80 charges.
The 42-year-old Victorian man was first charged in June with one count of sexual activity in the presence of a child under 16 and three counts of accessing child abuse material.
He was arrested in Townsville on Wednesday and charged with a further 78 offences, including rape, producing child abuse material and possessing child abuse material.
The offences allegedly happened in Victoria between August 2014 and May 2023 while the man was off duty.
The 42-year-old, a sergeant from the transit and public safety command, will front the Townsville Magistrates Court on Thursday afternoon.
Investigators will seek his extradition to Victoria.
