Australia’s teenage female skateboarders have once again shone on the international stage with Arisa Trew claiming another historic gold medal at the X Games in California and Chloe Covell adding bronze to her collection.
The Queensland pair, both aged just 13, continued to push their case for selection for next year's Olympics in Paris.
Following her victory in the women’s skateboard vert (vert) on Saturday, Trew took home her second gold medal by winning the park event with a top score of 91.00.
She became the first female in X Games history to take home the skateboard gold double.
“I’m just so happy that I landed my run because I just really wanted to land it and I’m even more happy that I podiumed and won gold,” Trew said.
Covell rounded out her X Games campaign with a bronze medal in the skateboard street best trick, adding to her street gold medal from Saturday.
Both skaters will now return home to Australia, continuing their qualification journeys towards Paris 2024.
In the men’s skateboard park, Tokyo Olympic champion Keegan Palmer took home the silver medal behind USA’s Jagger Eaton.
The silver continued Palmer's podium form, earlier this year winning his first ever X Games gold medal in Japan.
