The head of Australia's domestic spy agency will stay in the role for the next five years.
Mike Burgess has been reappointed as director-general of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation by the federal government.
Mr Burgess has held the role since 2019, with the re-appointment keeping him in the top job until 2029.
Home Affairs Minister Clare O'Neil said Mr Burgess was an experienced hand to lead the spy agency.
"Mr Burgess has made an extraordinary contribution to Australia’s national security and his leadership of ASIO has been invaluable in an increasingly complex security environment," she said.
"ASIO is a critical part of our national security community and plays a crucial role in protecting Australians from security threats.
"For the past 75 years ASIO’s operational and analytic efforts have helped keep Australians safe from threats like terrorism, espionage, and foreign interference."
Mr Burgess' term as director-general was due to expire in September.
