Veteran Matthew Wade is a day-by-day proposition for the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League as he battles back soreness.
The 36-year-old, who skippered Australia in their most recent Twenty20 series against India, appeared in discomfort in the Hurricanes' seven-wicket win over the Thunder on Monday.
Wade has missed one game this season for Hobart, who have breathed some life into their campaign and sit in fifth with two wins and three losses with five games to play.
Their next three games are on the road against the Melbourne Renegades, Brisbane Heat and Adelaide Strikers.
Hurricanes coach Jeff Vaughan said Wade was experiencing daily grief from back spasms and soreness, but wasn't injured.
"It's not a major injury that is going to keep him out of games on a regular occurrence," Vaughan told reporters on Wednesday.
"It's a day-by-day proposition.
"We'll just have to assess it over the next few days and hope that he wakes up each morning and is right to play.
"He's obviously a world-class player. We'll give him every chance to play each night.
"If we have to make that call at the toss of the coin, that's OK."
Wade top-scored with 82 in Hobart's win over the Renegades, but has otherwise posted scores of 11, one and 15.
Vaughan was hopeful the all-round showing against the Thunder could set up the Hurricanes for the back half of the competition.
English import Chris Jordan was miserly with the ball, while a half-century from Ben McDermott on return from concussion ironed out the 8-150 target with 11 balls to spare.
"We've played some good cricket throughout, but it has been inconsistent," Vaughan said.
"Our fielding was a lot better and our bowling performance was excellent to keep them to 150."
